Costa Rica is rich with eco wonders including rainforests and cloud forests. Take an afternoon to hike through a rainforest, keeping a watchful eye for resident wildlife and exotic birds. For a real adventure, embark on a zip-lining canopy tour. There are various opportunities to zip-line close to our resort, including Turubari Tropical Park and Adventure Park Vista Golfo.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve
You’ll feel as if you’re walking among the clouds as you explore the wondrously unique ecosystem of the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve. Stroll amidst exotic flora and fauna and a cool mist that envelopes the reserve; there’s more than 2,000 species of plants and trees in this forest. Get up close to wildlife including jaguars, pumas, monkeys, toucanets, bellbirds, guans and more. You may even spot a golden toad, a species of toad that can only be found in the Monteverde Cloud Forest. Hike the trails, take a skywalk, rappelling or canopy tour — all while you’re high above the treetops. The skywalk and canopy tours were developed by scientists in order to study the trees without disturbing the plants and wildlife – they are truly a unique and eco-friendly way to explore the cloud forest. For visitors, it’s an amazing experience, walking or zip lining through the forest, while witnessing a panoramic, aerial view of all its magnificent scenery. Manuel Antonio
For a day filled with activity, adventure and nature, head to Manuel Antonio, one of Costa Rica’s most visited national parks. Here, people of all ages can partake in the great outdoors and experience the true allure of Costa Rica. Gorgeous beaches, excellent waves for surfing, hiking trails, and tropical plants are abundant. Lush rainforests are home to many species of birds and wildlife, including the scarlet macaw, howler and squirrel monkeys, two-toed sloths, iguanas, armadillos and more.

Carara
Located on the Pacific Coast along the road between Puntarenas and Jaco, Carara National Park is one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful places to visit. The park offers an interesting union of several ecosystems, including marshlands, lagoons and gallery forests. A bird watchers favorite, visitors can see the rare scarlet macaw as well as a large assortment of wild birds. Visitors of all ages love catching a glimpse of the many monkeys, crocodiles, opossums, sloths, boas, jaguars, white tail deer and other animals that make this area their home. Perhaps its most famous asset is Carara’s high diversity of trees – the park boasts ten of the most uncommon and rare hardwoods in the country. Come, walk amongst these towering giants and witness the exquisite natural oasis and its lively inhabitants.
Mangroves and Scarlet Macaws Tour
Discover the stunning beauty of our mangroves as you learn about the history of Puntarenas. During this boat tour through the mangroves you’ll encounter giant crocodiles, sloths, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, coati mundi, aquatic birds and many other curious mangrove inhabitants.
Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs
Looming at 5,437 feet, the Arenal Volcano is Costa Rica’s youngest and most active volcano. Its lifetime spans some 7,000 years with eruptions too numerous to count. Today, visitors can view the striking phenomenon from a town close to the base, witnessing a fiery display of lava as it flows down the mountain.
Also in the Arenal area is a myriad of activities and eco-excitement. Hike, go horseback riding, take a canopy tour, mountain bike or rafting excursion—stop for a soak in one of the soothing hot springs. There’s so much to do, you can’t do it all in one day.
Poas Volcano
The Poas Volcano is a wondrous sight, with several craters, forests and spectacular scenery. Rising to more than 8,000 feet, Poas is almost a mile in diameter with a rain-fed sulfuric pool that bubbles and emits smoke. The morning hours are the best time to visit, offering clear views before the afternoon clouds drift over.

Surfing is one activity that draws thrill-seekers from across the globe. Costa Rica is home to some of the most well known surfing destinations in the area. Jaco, Playa Hermosa, Playa Grande, Pavones, Witches Rock, Salsa Brava and Boca Barranca are all conveniently located nearby.
San Lucas Island
Just off the Pacific Shore, San Lucas Island lures visitors with its intriguing past and cultural significance. For more than a century, the island was home to a prison where some of the country’s worst criminals were housed. Now a national park, San Lucas offers a first-hand look at the historical dock, the prison cells, the warden’s quarters, a church and much more. Tour the buildings, see authentic graffiti scrolled on the walls by prisoners and gain an understanding as to why being sent to San Lucas was considered a terrible fate. Howler monkeys, spiders, snakes, deer and more abound on the island, while hammerhead sharks, rays and turtles inhabit the surrounding waters.
Coffee Plantation
Visit a coffee plantation and discover the delicious assortment of Costa Rican roasts. Learn about the process of coffee growing and see how the seed begins its journey to becoming the perfect coffee bean. Sample an array of different roasts during this delightful tour. Afterwards, enjoy a stroll and shopping in nearby Sarchi Town, known for its lovely arts and crafts.
White Water Rafting, Savegre River, Quepos Manuel Antonio
Feel the exhilaration as the cool river water mists across your cheeks. A fantastic journey through one of Costa Rica’s tropical jungles, your white water rafting adventure is much more than you’d expect. You’ll depart the hotel early in the morning and travel to the Savegre River, where breathtaking scenery and a meandering waterway beckon you to explore. You’ll have the choice to raft down class II, III or IV level rapids and stop at cascading waterfalls to witness local wildlife in their natural habitat.
